Chocolate Chex Mix Cookies & Cream & If Your Movie Title is a Date, YOU MUST RELEASE ON THAT DATE.
Junk Food Nation, I saw Moneyball the other day. Great movie, recommend it. But during the trailers, there was a trailer for this movie:
This movie, The Ides of March, is a political thriller with Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, and a slew of other stars…and it’s being released on October 7. Wait, what?? Um, you have a date to release it…it’s the effing title, the Ides of March (March 15 – thank you geeky high school Latin Club). October 7th??? Are you friggin’ kiddin’ me?
If your movie title is a date or time or holiday, then you release the movie on or near that date. It’s movie law. Or at least it should be. That the Ides of March is being released on any date OTHER than March 15th is ridiculous. Independence Day wasn’t released in the winter (actually July 2, 1996), the original Halloween wasn’t released at Thanksgiving (October 25, 1978), and Christmas movies come out during the holidays, NOT DURING THE SUMMER.
You, Ides of March, are a ridiculous movie to be coming out now. Hurrumph.
Today’s junk food: Chocolate Chex Mix Cookies & Cream!
I was impressed with Chex Mix Muddy Buddies, and now I find Chocolate Chex Mix Cookies & Cream?? Delicious (I hope)! This flavor is so new, it’s not even on the Chex Mix website! I take pride when that happens 🙂 FIRST!
Chocolate Chex Mix Cookies & Cream, you’re not fooling anyone with the description: “Delicious sweet coated Corn Chex with real chocolate cookie crumbs.” They’re OREO crumbs, and we know it! You can’t have pictures of Oreos on the bag, and NOT call them Oreos! Someone get corporate on the line – work out whatever licensing you need – and rename this shit!
“Chex Mix is a bag of interesting!” is the worst slogan of all time.
Chocolate Chex Mix Cookies & Cream pieces are completely covered in powdered sugar, like the Muddy Buddies. This I like. Let’s take a closer look…
As you can see, the individual pieces appear to be brushed with both white powdered sugar and crushed up chocolate cookie powder. If these Oreo-doused pieces were each filled with Oreo creme – THEN I’d be truly in heaven.
Up close, these pieces are pretty impressive – it’s as if each tiny hole of the Chex piece is filled with chocolate cookie, and then the whole snack has been wrapped in powdered sugar. It’s time to eat, boys in girls – enough writing.
One word: YUM. First, like the Muddy Buddies, the powdered sugar just gives a really satisfying sweet taste that isn’t overpowering (no syrupy taste or coating). Then the cookie crumble really comes through – not HEAVY, but just enough to get that slightly bittersweet chocolate taste. Much like your typical Oreo cookie. And then the crunch of the Chex brings it all together. The powdered sugar and the cookie crumbs really did meld together in a decent cookies and cream flavor… Like I was eating crunchy cookies and cream ice cream.
Not as mind-numbingly addictive as the Muddy Buddies, but still very very good. Kudos, General Mills.
Sincerely, Junk Food Guy
