St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza Day 5: Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Bananas Foster Ice Cream
Day 5 of St.VegasMarchIceCreamYouScreamWeAllScreamForPatricksMadnessDayPalooza is Sunday, the day of rest. And, correspondingly, I’m likely collapsed somewhere by the pool in Vegas. One last day of NCAA games, one more day of Sin City before taking flight back to DC tomorrow. Hey wait…this isn’t the pool. Why am I sleeping inside a Craps Table? Uh oh…..find out what I’ve been up to by following me on Twitter @junkfoodguy.
Day 5 of this frozen food weekend takes us to another last season flavor I found at my local Giant food mart: Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Bananas Foster Ice Cream!
PS: For the uninitiated, according to Wiki: Bananas Foster is a dessert made from bananas and vanilla ice cream, with the sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. The butter, sugar and bananas are cooked, and then the alcohol is added and ignited. The bananas and sauce are then served over the ice cream. Preparation of the dish is often made into a tableside performance as a flambé.
Here’s the thing about this Häagen-Dazs Limited Edition Bananas Foster Ice Cream: if you like rum and brown sugar taste, you’ll love this ice cream. In other words, I love this ice cream. See how I did that? 😉
The ice cream had a nice rich banana taste. This wasn’t the bright banana flavor that the Ben & Jerry’s Banana Peanut Butter Greek Frozen Yogurt had…this was a deeper richer taste, mostly due to the brown sugar and rum bits that were swirled throughout. The cinnamon and nutmeg spice was really noticeable, but not overpowering. Each bite of this ice cream kind of tasted like a fine banana liquor. Really really tasty. Just bite after bite of brown sugary banana flavor with hints of rum. Perfect.
Another high five from me, H-D. You can do no wrong.

I hope you didn’t wake up by the pool because it was 45 degrees for the high.
@Kahn: Eh, felt good
