New! Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon & Humpday Sports Roundup: NFL Schedule, UniWatch, and More
Junk Food Nation, it’s humpday, so let’s discuss some sports snippets:
1) The NFL Schedule was released last night, and there are plenty of juicy matchups on the schedule. Two jumped out at me:
a: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots, 10-07-2012: Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning, in the regular season, after a long hiatus? For some reason, I feel like I haven’t seen this matchup in forever, and I can’t wait. It’s like when they finally made Aliens vs. Predator…sort of.
b: San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints, 11-25-2012: The Gregg Williams game? I can’t wait to hear the taunts, and to see how many burning effigies of Gregg Williams there are in the stands. The broadcasters shouldn’t pot up the sound too far on this game – you’re likely to hear cursing throughout.
2) The Spurs trounced the Lakers last night 112-91, and looking back on my NBA playoff predictions, I wonder: How could I have been so wrong on both Boston and San Antonio? I marked them down as too old; meanwhile, the Spurs have the best record in the West, and Boston is leading the pack in the Atlantic Division. Did I think Kevin Garnett’s or Tim Duncan’s knees and back would hold up? Nope, and that’s clearly where I went wrong.
3) Thanks again to ESPN’s UniWatch for linking back to my post about the StrasBurger earlier this week! It’s a tiny mention, but I’m a huge fan of the UniWatch, so I basically danced around my office for three straight minutes.
Onto today’s junk food: new Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon!
Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon are the sister snack to yesterday’s Doritos Dinamita Nacho Picoso, and this bag was also purchased at 7-11. I’m very VERY skeptical of any snacks flavored with lime. I’ve spoken about it on this blog before – I don’t like those Hint of Lime Tostitos, and I wasn’t super crazy about the Tapatio and Lime Ruffles.
My friend Neil mentioned that he had purchased these Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon, and said after he ate some he threw the bag away because they were inedible. Not a great sign.
This bag is a little too EXXXXTREEEMME for me. I mean explosions and limes? It’s like they just Photoshopped the lime on there because they had to.
The perfect detonation of spicy chile with lime twist….really, Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon? Is that what this is? I’m skeptical…
It bothers me that there is more Red 40 artificial color in this snack than natural flavors…never a good start.
Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon were startling to see when I opened the bag, because I don’t think I’d ever seen a bag so full of ….RED. These tightly rolled suckers were RED RED RED. Flourescent RED. Wow. No real distinct smell, but the color made me afraid to put it in my mouth.
I ate some of these Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon, and must agree with Neil – I really didn’t like these. At all. At all at all at all at all. Wow, where to begin?
The spice is a bit too high for something that doesn’t really have cheese flavoring. Mainly you taste spice and chiles, and then the corn flavor comes through. Without some cheese creaminess to balance it out, the flavor of the chile was really strong and I didn’t like it. I’ve said it before – spice is a sensation, not a flavor.
And the lime was WAY too strong, and sooooo artificial tasting. And sweet, which was unexpected! It felt like I was eating spicy Froot Loops, to be honest. I really did not enjoy these one bit. Sorry, Doritos. I love you so much, typically. I spit these out 🙁 Like the Hot Sauce and Limon Corn Nut Chips, these will never go into my gullet again.
AND these Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon turned my fingers an unnatural RED color. See my logo? It’s ORANGE cheesy fingers, not red! This was just…this was just WEIRD.

And there you are… first time I have ever stopped eating a bag of snacks and thrown them away. I can’t tell you how awful these were. You hit it right on the mark.
@Neil: Ditto
Yes first bag I HAD TO THROW out because it was so bad. Started ok, then turned into nothing but burning sensation and no taste…. If I wanted this I would have just drank a bottle of habanera….
@Brett: LOL, yeah, I had to stop eating these too
Blech. Bad snacks feel like such a waste – of money, of food…of energy in the universe. The worst… 🙁
@Teresapalooza: CONCUR. WASTE!!!!
I refuse to buy and try these, not just cause they probably suck. But due to the fact that they are a sad attempt at Doritos to compete with this product from Mexico.

These are really good, can be overpowering spice wise, but I would guess its a much better flavor than whatever Doritos is putting out there as a imitation. These have started gaining more traction here in Texas and showing up all over, then all of the sudden I start seeing these Doritos wanna be snack showing up.
Just do what you do Doritos and let the people that know chili lime do their thing.
@BuffaloChron: Doritos does some good flavorings sometimes – I just didn’t like these…
I like these better than takis. The flavor balance is just different, and I favor these. :3 I am absolutely addicted to these!
@Janessa: Takis better watch out 🙂
You guys are crazy. Doritos got the idea for these chips from Takis, and they did it better. These snacks are killer, my mouth is still burning as I type this, and I closed the bag 10 minutes ago. I love these things.
@Skwerley: No I like what Doritos did with the Nacho Picoso ones, and I like Takis too – just for me, the chile lime was too much
At first I didn’t care for them, then I ate some more, then some more, then some more. Actually eating one right now. Seriously hot but they are good.
@Mark: So they grew on you? How’d you feel when it was over?
Frito-Lay has sold these under their Sabritas brand for ages.
Ok, first of all, Takis made the chili lime first. Second They copied!!! SO did doritos!!! But I have to say, I love the takis and I love these chips too. For some the flavoring is too much, then dont eat them. and dont say they are inedible either!!!
Because they aren’t!!!
@Some person: LOL, ok ok! I’m hearing your passion 🙂 I know – some people love these and have called me a jerk for not liking them – it’s cool! I’m always glad to hear all opinions – keep em coming!
I love these things!! I was actually looking for a place to buy them because my store ran out, then I came across this. They are very addictive…especially if you like spicy stuff.
@Tisha – I’m glad you like them! Just not my thing
Are you kidding me? This stuff was GREAT!!!! They’re definitely the best junk food snack out there. I’m looking all over for them though. They don’t sell it at the Walmart any more. I need to get with Tisha and find a place where they sell these.
I’m so tired of that cheesy blech taste that all junk foods have. I’m glad they tried something with a bit more spice. I loved it.
@Luke: I’m glad you like them! Yeah, to each his/her own. Have you had the Nacho Picoso kind?
I freaking LOVE these things, they are def different from other “cheese” snacks. They are awsome!
@Tiffany: LOL, I’m glad SOMEONE likes them!
These look like takis fuego takis fuego are my favorite snack
@Dusty: Gotta try these Takis everyone is talking about!
I would also have to agree that I think these are fantastic but my local vendors seem to not have them anymore, but there is a frito lay brand called ‘turbo flamas’ that have the same flavor, though the shape and texture of the dinamata still wins me. But I love spicy food, chile lime is one of my favorite recipes to work with food (corn, meat, etc) so I was a fan first bite. One of my favorites.
@Gowi: TURBO FLAMAS? Hmmmm Need to see those
Omg I loved these Doritos ! They’re not much spicier than flaming hot Cheetos. I personally like them more than takis because of that lime flavor.
@Love them: Yeah, some people love that strong lime taste…not me, but I understand it!
my friends and i have competitions to see how many we can fit in our mouth, before we either get too hot or too many in our mouth.
When you say “spice is a sensation, not a flavor” that would work if you were talking about hot water instead of spice, but in this case I can tell you don’t know sh*t about food in general and spices in particular.
Anywayss, I happen to like these and I’m struggling to find a way to get them in europe
@Giles: I’m just happy you read my post, and wanted to comment! Good on ya, mate. Hope you found more of these SOMEwhere.
I am snacking on a bag of these right now. So far I hate them. I bought them because they looked like Takis. They taste a bit like Takis but the bag I have the lime is disappointingly weak and when I can taste it it tastes artificial.
I say to Doritos, take a back seat, cause this time you’re the generic.
@Nivarion: Agree – these are NOT the quality that Takis are. Boooooooo
I think takis are kinda good but they are way to sour. Like the lime overpowers the chili. Like come on i payed 1.59 for a bag of tortilla lime chips but it is still good i like them but cut down on the lime????????????????????????????
They are okay…. I mean honestly i believe everybody has there own taste so there is no bad quality or good its just what you like….Don’t do the most when it comes to anything cause everybody has there opinions :]

@Nyla: Truth – all tastebuds are different 🙂
I actually think these are wonderful, they are a house favorite (we all are deep with spicy things, we had spiced rum with ghost pepper which was too much for me but that gives you an idea how this house is crazy with spices). I think the lime and corn come out the strongest whilst the spice itself hits you third which tastes particularly fantastic. My friend hates these too, he had one and said they were terrible! I was like watnodudethesearethebest!
I could eat these all day.
@Gowi: Seems like you either love or you hate these 🙂
Wow how do I start?! Grew up in the midwest, and about 3 years ago we had to move to phoenix. That was a culture shock?! First, all of these mexican infused flavors were overwhelming! My mouth was sore and numb with all the spices that people put on their snacks, but with time, it really grows on you…its some really WEIRD addiction. Love this doritos and takis, to the point it has become a staple in my house!!! I just came back from visiting granny in indiana, and first thing i bought back home was my takis!!!! Those bold, flavors do grow on you…
@Sierra: I do like Takis…mI dunno, these chile limon ones just didn’t resonate with me 🙁
I am late to this conversation. Me and my 8 year old daughter also love the chile limon dinamite. I hate the Red 40 though..wish they would make them with out it. Aldi was making Taquitos rolled chips (basically the same thing) for a while and they had NO Red 40! They tasted a little different but were good. I am just hoping Aldi brings them back and if they do I will buy a case!
