Review: Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream & The Winner of the Merci Chocolate / Girl Scout Cookie Crunch Bar Contest Is…
Junk Food Nation, I am exhausted. You’d think the holidays would be slow, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I’m busier now at work than ever, and I’m trying to get so much done before Christmas. I remember Christmas took FOREVER to arrive when I was a kid. Now, it’s RIGHT around the corner, and I’m panicked. Sigh.
Anyways, let’s get to the winner of my Merci Chocolate / Girl Scout Cookie Crunch Bar Contest! Decent turn out with over 125 entries. A big thank you to Merci Chocolate for helping make this happen. And thanks to all of you who participated. Using the random number generator at Random.org, I assigned every entry a number, clicked the button, and found my winner:

Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream!
Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream is one of those recurring Turkey Hill Limited Edition flavors that arrived back in 2008. Each year, it gets released at different times, and in 2013 it looks like it’ll be around in February. So I was STOKED to see it when I went to the store over the weekend.
Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream is creamy coconut ice cream with pie pieces!? Sign me up! Love the visual here of straight up coconut milk being poured into the pie.
Also, I’ll admit – the reason I even SAW this is because it was next to the Turkey Hill Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream I reviewed earlier. Which I went back and bought the entire stock of. Yeaaahhh…..
Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream has coconut base and toasted coconut — love it. LOVE IT. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a coconut cream pie ice cream before, but I do LOVE coconut cream pie, ever since a friend’s mom used to make it when I was a little kid.
Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream has no swirls, and is pretty plain looking from when you open the container. Smelled decently like coconut however. Some pie pieces were sticking out from the surface. Time to eat!
Ok, I’ll say this: Limited Edition Turkey Hill Coconut Cream Pie Ice Cream was pretty freaking good. Not as good as my new all time favorite Pumpkin Pie ice cream, but right up there. The reason? Because the way the flavor is presented just MAKES SENSE.
The ice cream itself is creamy and not overly sweet, but packed with LOTS of coconut flavor. It made me feel like I was eating straight up frozen and blended sweetened coconut milk.
In the ice cream itself were invisible pieces of toasted coconut, which added great texture and sort of made the whole experience feel like I was eating chilled/frozen coconut pie filling.
And the pie pieces were soft and I swear also full of coconut flavor, as if I was biting into tiny coconut macaroons!
So I felt like I was eating frozen coconut cream pie filling with coconut macaroons inside. This was the epitome of coconut cream pie ice cream. So good.
Great work, Turkey Hill. You are quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed it, too! Glad you got your hands on some. Turkey Hill is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
@IC INformant: Yeah man. I like that they not only think about flavor, but also the construction of the ice cream
I went in search of Coconut Cream Pie but no luck. I ended up with 2 cartons of Pumkin Pie. Happy Wednesday to me! Thanks for the reviews.
@Deb: Happy Wednesday indeed! Thanks for the great feedback. You’re going to really enjoy that Pumpkin ice cream 🙂
Still throwing up like I did when I sent you the photo on twitter awhile back.
@Nick: LOL. You and your coconut hate
My family and I have had this ice cream in the past and loved it, in fact, we recommended it to many friends and family who enjoyed it as well. Unfortunately, many of these people could not find it in any of the major supermarkets in New Jersey. Once before I contacted your company and was told that it was a seasonal flavor that only came out once or twice a year, but that was several years ago. Have you stopped making it? Please advise
