Review: Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream & Aloe Blacc’s NBA All-Star Botch, Other News
Junk Food Nation, good morning! What’s going on this Tuesday?
1. So, two nights ago, before the NBA All-Star game started, Aloe Blacc came out to perform his hit, “The Man.” And it was…not. Good. Now, look, I’m not saying I’m a Grammy winner myself, but I’ve heard “The Man” on the radio a hundred times. This is what it is SUPPOSED to sound like:
And this is how he did NBA All-Star night:
Ouch. He just started in the wrong key and never looked back. That first minute is particularly painful, and you can tell that between 1:20-2:00 mark that HE realizes it, BUT HAS NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. He finally gets back on track at 2:12 in the RIGHT key…phew. That was definitely NOT the Remix to Ignition.
2. This woman claims to have killed more than 20 people via Craigslist??? First of all, that’s effing horrible, and second, this only further makes it awkward for ME when I’m selling my random ish on CL. I always feel like I need to try to OVER-emphasize that I am NOT a murderer in my CL listing when I’m trying to sell an old couch. “Normal wear and tear! Plus, I swear to God I’m not psycho. PLEASE BELIEVE ME! CASH ONLY!”
3. This reality-show pastor, who was apparently a famous snake handler, who also believed that his faith in God would keep him safe from poisonous snakes, recently died from a poisonous snake bite. Look, I admittedly know not very much about religion, and I am certainly in no position, nor am I attempting to, judge someone else’s faith. But didn’t God invent anti-venom too? That’s my question.
4. Hey in case you haven’t heard, THE RUSSIAN WOMEN’S CURLING TEAM IS SMOKING HOT. That is all. I’ll just leave this link here. And this one. And this one. And this one. So ends the sexist part of this blog.
Today’s junk food: Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream!
Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream was spotted in Wegmans, and is just another in the line of “Bakery Treats” ice creams that have been released this year. My podcasting friend Dubba over at OnSecondScoop.com has been reviewing a bunch of the Bakery Treat flavors, and it just so happened that his counterpart Nick also reviewed this flavor – but the lower calorie Slow Churned one.
Right next to the Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream WAS the Slow Churned version, and I know Dubba and Nick wouldn’t forgive me if I didn’t chose the full fat option.
I mean, half the fat? That’s no fun.
Plus, when is light ice cream ever delightful? I guess when it allows me to eat twice the amount, but since a serving size for me is “when my spoon hits the bottom of the carton,” I guess that doesn’t matter as much…
So, we’re gonna go FULL FAT to review this Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream. Sorry, waistline (again).
Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream has a lot of hearts and cakes and warm images on this tub. But where’s the chubby kid stuffing ice cream into his mouth? Oh that’s right, IN THE MIRROR.
Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream contains “chocolaty cookie pieces,” which means I have using my made-up term of “chocolate-y” unnecessarily.
Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream is basically a nice khaki coffee ice cream which has been loaded with chocolate covered cookie pieces. When I first dug my spoon into this ice cream, I didn’t get any cookie nuggets. The coffee ice cream itself was pretty standard, nice and creamy and tasting like a really sweet frozen latte. Anyone who has eaten coffee ice cream before knows what this tastes like. I personally really enjoy coffee ice cream, and this hit all the right notes for me.
The cookie pieces in this Limited Edition Edy’s Bakery Treats Coffee & Cookies Delight Grand Ice Cream were really good, and REALLY crunchy – they popped in my mouth like a piece of Whopper candy, or like how a Twix pops in my mouth (but no caramel). I honestly didn’t expect the cookie pieces to be so light and crunchy, but they were. Just consistently crunchy, through and through. Alone, they sort of LOOKED like chocolate covered raisins. My only complaint – I HAD TO DIG for them. I’d go several spoonfuls without a cookie piece, and then have a few spoonfuls with two pieces each. A bit inconsistent.
Nick over on OnSecondScoop found out that the cookie was biscotti, which is some good investigative insight. Eaten with the ice cream, it was a great texture contrast to the smooth coffee background. Smooth latte POP goes the cookie. Smooth latte POP goes the cookie. I enjoyed the texture a lot. The chocolate on the cookie was decent – tasted chocolaty, nothing too unexpected.
All in all, I thought this flavor was just pretty good. Executed well, but there weren’t enough cookie pieces for my liking. I wonder if this flavor is exciting enough for people…it tasted great for what it was, but maybe the combo is a little TOO simple? Whatever the case, I’d eat this again. While it didn’t blow my mind, like the Scotchy Scotch Scotch, I still really liked it.

What was in the mystery packages that Marvo sent to you? I’m deaf and I cannot hear the “Nosh show” segment.
@Alek: A picture of what was inside the box can be seen here: http://www.thenoshshow.com/23/ (Scroll down a bit)
Glad you enjoyed this one. It’s kind of funny how my “light” version was loaded with cookies but your grand version not so much. They’re so damn addictive though and I may have polished off my carton in under 36 hours of my first sampling.
@Nick: Yeah, I finished it recently and there were more cookie pebbles toward the bottom. Maybe that’s where they all settled too?
